I am sorry for posting in here, but I was wondering if someone actually went in person to the Houston Consulate to get their passport renewed. Also, do we need to have any reason to attend in person at the Consulate such as emergency, etc.
I am from India and my passport is expiring on Aug 17. I read before in the forum that it is better to go in person to renew the passport. Any experiences please let me know.

I have MBA from an American university, do you think it's going to help me?
MBA is always better than a MS from US..guaranteed. MS doesn't fetch much. I know it first hand. I have MS from US and worked in India. I then got an MBA from Canada.

wondering how yu came up with a list of contributors.......if i provide my transfer confirmations to IV and still cannot find my name in the list then how will I trust the veracity of yur list.....

Not sure but I guess the IV team is just picking names from when people post confirmation of the contribution, and quite likely inadvertently missed your name....
...not for argument either but I won't worry too much who is or is not on the list...I will just be content with contributing...who cares if I am on the list or not! :)

Which state are you in? Try other means of financing for the car. Sometimes the dealers themselves have options but might be a % or two higher.
There was a previous post regarding admisibility of EAD as one of the documents for DL. You might want to search for that post. I asume you dont have an H1b, right?
I am on H1 and I140 approved. Bank of american denied my car loan. Infact Honda Finance too denied my loan. Finally I had to go with Credit union who gave me very good APR for my excellent credit history. So there is a way out guys ..we just have to live with it untill we get our GC

You make it sound like they care about you and are doing this slowly to get everybody on board, sorry to burst the bubble but chances are they were able to apply the right pressure at the right places and get this passed.
Fashion models and Sport personnel and EB-5 folks are few in numbers and will go unnoticed by their constituents. Other EB categories are comparatively huge. So I suppose that congress is treading carefully. If the bills does not go though the subcommittee and full ones, opponents will debate that the bill was sneaked in or piggy backed or pushed through. Hopefully something will emerge before the presidential elections. Lets not loose hope and try our best. Anything after the elections will be bound to be bogged down by CIR...

Looks like the USCIS had been busy with the citizenship applications before the Nov elections and hence it has been slow approving I-140's and GC's. Now that it is coming to an end we might see our applications moving forward. Maybe from Nov onwards it would be better.

for what it s worth here is my experience with ohio bmv
i brought h1b approval till feb st 2010 and receipt notice for I 485 and employer letter till feb 1st 2010. I dont have ead or ap.
they told me that cus of i485 i can only get dl for 1 year, however with the employment letter they did give it to me till feb 1st 2010

...welcome to the new nightmare, someone did say something about the grass been green on the other side..now that we are on the other side we wait for 485 to be current while we renew EAD/AP each year, fingerprint every 15 months and aviod the namecheck black hole...maybe this is what they(uscis) wanted after all...a steady income stream...good luck :)

only solution is get rid of the country cap. Before anybody from ROW goes into a lecture about "diversity" blah blah blah please think with a rational mind. Getting rid of country quota is the only solution. things like increasing it to 10% etc will only reduce the backlog time for Indian applicants from 25 years to maybe 18 years.
When did that happen? I've never opposed getting rid of the country cap as I find it offensive and discriminatory. Would it screw me personally? Probably, but some people here don't just care about themselves
