Landed on 03/1997 on H1B. Didn't file for GC until 2003 as plan was to work for 2-3 years, get into an MBA program, and then go back.
MBA resulted in loans of $120K which in turn meant spending some more time in the US which resulted in buying a house which resulted in even bigger loan.
Now living the American "dream" on EAD.
You must be earning more than the debts you have from MBA per year. With that you should have paid the loans.

I am a great admirer of IV and all the efforts IV did so far.
I am going to participate 100% sure in the rally. I am spreading word of mouth everyday about the rally. So far I had convinced 15 people to attend to the rally. Everyone complained that they have work on that day as I expected. However I convinced them and they are 100% sure to participate.
I am pretty confident that this Rally is going to be huge success and will change our lives for sure.

I called Rep Lamar Smith office. The lady who picked up the phone asked me we are getting lot of calls. She asked me are you in supprot of the bill? I told her yes. I also told her that I am having master's degree from USA. My children are top student but may not get admission in some of NJ medical college just because we did not get GC since last 7 years. So we need help from Rep Lamar Smith to make USA more competitive. She also wanted to know that from where I was calling.
She told me that she will convey the message to Rep Lamar Smith.

I have sent 50$ to IV through Bill Pay. I have also started a funding drive in my office locally. There are about 20 people in this situation. Lets see if any one contributes.

Entire world is turning up against immigration. It is beyond individual/group control to lobby for changes in that area.
It is on the threshold of the time. Right now we as individuals still can make a decision to continue to be in US and wait it out or go back to our home country.
But if this trend continues, I am afraid, some new law will make that decision for us to send us all back. It is just around the corner. Worst part is we can't do a thing about that.
So want to blame anyone, blame your politicians of your native country for creating such a mess that people wanted to move to a different country.

Education system is detoriating day by day because of privatization, private institutions only look for profit and dont care mostly for their students. Fortunately they have billion people to get customers. Our engineers are mostly unemployable
Property values are rising to extreme level beyond affordability of common man. Poverty rate is increasing day by day. Agriculture is detoriating and we are not a manufactuting masters. Our engineers are getting poor in quality day by day and scientist get frustated every day because of injust system so try to migrate every where else. We can never survive as country creating softwares or answering calls for long time. It might serve us for short period.
Morality. Corruption, attitude of peoples and so-called social net work (which is even more selfish then US) are even hard to compare with other countries where relations and systems are more open and frank. In our home country on surface every thing looks good but if you try to look below it is hard to say how supefecious it is.
so in short if we are hear only because we wanted GC, then we should leave in next flight to home. But if you have seen any other advantages of being here then hangin, GC will come. Dont wait for GC every day, just live your life and enjoy it to full extent.

Is this memo in effect already or what? Can someone throw more light on this?
This is only for EB 2 aliens of exceptional ability. As far as I know this does not need perm. I got an EB2 alien of exceptional ability when my last employer filed through Schedule A. So don't sweat this does not apply to the usual EB-2 route...as far as I can tell...
Does it mean the eligibility criteria/job requirement for EB2 is changed from Bachelors + 5 years of experience to Bachelors + 10 years of experience?
Only EB2-NIW (National Interest Waiver) even currently requires 10 years of work experience in the relevant field at the time of filing this is the category that does not require labor and van be self filed. The exceptional ability refers to Non US Masters folks Bachelors + 5 Years, now looks like this is bachelors + 10 years. The memo is currently not implemented Smuggymba I believe you should push your case in premium processing, probably you are not impacted though as you have a US masters (MBA). But there is no guarantee that they will not review all cases at the time of 485 once again. This memo / revised guidelines are indeed extremely scary. One way to increase participation is to involve the Indian student associations of the various universities of the area. They are usually pretty well organized and members are usually willing to support such causes. Also support from ISA's from top notch schools goes a long way to show the legal immigrant population as a highly educated bunch.

My Wife's H1B is expiring in 30 days. We had filed for extension 15 days back and are waiting under regular processing. I contacted local DMV employee( whom I know personally) and he contacted their legal dept in Sacramento to see if we can extend DL based on extension recipt and the answer has come back that we cannot!
Anyone recently extended their DL based on extension notice in CA? If so which DMV is advisable in the bay area? Thanks

I have just talked local Congresswoman's Office and I have talked to a staff member for 1 hour and she is helping me. She is going to call NSC and get to the root cause of this problem.

Sorry about the pain. if you haven't noticed, I think aftr your previous employer revoked the I-140, they went ahead and updated that to 'denied' status and apparently the date did not change. so the same day that your 140 was approved now shows as denied. Bring that to their notice and they may see their mistake.

My suggestion for everyone reading this is - do not send this information to your Company or HR department. They could ask us to table this additional cost. I work for Accenture so I hope that this does not apply to my employer with less than 50% employees on visa. But I'm not going to write to them asking about this because they may turn around asking us to eat this new cost.
